I'm getting ready to take a trip to Spokane where I'll take a class in metal casting, and purchase a foundry kit. In the class, I will make a copy of this stove door from cast iron, using greensand casting. To get it ready, the rust pitting was filled using bondo putty, and it was shaped and sanded to remove defects.
I'm so excited! This is the first step in building a replica of my rusted out 1881 cook stove!
